Juniper Hill Associates provides professional Scrum training, Agile coaching, and assessment guidance grounded in decades of real-world experience across software delivery, higher education, and organizational leadership. Our work is shaped by the belief that professionals learn best through clarity, relevance, and respect for their existing expertise. We assume our students and clients are whole, intelligent people who make rational decisions. They do not need artificial exercises or motivational gimmicks; they benefit most from thoughtful guidance that helps them recognize options and solutions they may not have previously considered.

Our training emphasizes applied understanding rather than memorization. Whether preparing for professional Scrum assessments or strengthening organizational capability, we focus on judgment, accountability, and the practical application of Scrum principles in complex environments. Participants learn how to evaluate situations, make informed tradeoffs, and align delivery decisions with measurable outcomes.

In addition to Agile practice, Juniper Hill Associates helps organizations navigate the growing impact of artificial intelligence on product development and governance. We support responsible AI adoption through structured maturity thinking, helping leaders balance innovation with oversight, risk awareness, and sustainable delivery practices. By integrating Agile experience with modern AI realities, we help individuals and organizations move forward with confidence, develop professional competence, and achieve lasting improvement rather than short-term compliance.

About the Founder

I am a highly experienced, well-respected professional trainer of many IT-related subjects. I'm one of the few Professional Scrum Trainers with authorization to instruct almost every course offered by Scrum.org. I have a solid reputation for satisfying students by breaking down complicated concepts into relatable analogies. I've been referred to as an agile expert by my students and peers alike.

I've worked in software and education for my entire career. I've instructed hundreds of students in wide-ranging subjects, from highly technical programming techniques to executive classes on organizational behavior. I've taught well over 6,000 students in Professional Scrum classes.

I consult with large to medium-sized businesses in addition to teaching. My main consulting objective is to help businesses better align their business and IT strategies in order to take full advantage of agile techniques and principles.

I'm a computer scientist with a doctorate degree from Colorado Technical University, a master's degree from Cleveland State University, and a bachelor's degree from Edinboro University.  Additionally I hold over 20 industry related certifications.  I previously worked as a full-time professor at Colorado State University and frequently work as an adjunct professor at various universities.
